Baby growth 7th month

It is actually fun to be around your baby now! They play with the toys hung on their crib or around them. They will also enjoy any play time with you. Since they can probably sit on their own by now, they can keep themselves engaged with less attention. However, you need to be extra careful about keeping them in a safer place since they can move around and roll on their own.

How much has your baby grown in the seventh month?

In the seventh month, the growth rate of a child continues to be around 500 to 600 grams. Your baby will also gain about half an inch in height. Slowly your baby will have its own rate of growth different from the standard curve. The growing teeth might make them a bit irritable and disrupt their sleep.

Your baby’s gross motor skills

The coordination in your baby’s movements has developed to the point where they can bring their hands together and clap when they want.

You need to be extremely vigilant around your baby now because, during the seventh month, they start crawling freely. If you place your baby in a sitting position, it might bounce around or start crawling on its own.

How will your baby communicate?

Babies at seven months are getting better at communicating. Although they can’t form specific words right now, they will try to talk back and forth to you with ‘da-da’ like sounds. If your little one has a name, they can already recognize it by this point.

What should you feed your baby?

Now that you have introduced solids to your baby, they might be very happy to explore new foods. However, you must realize that there is no rush to it. You still need to give them enough milk so that their main source of nutrition is milk. Try to introduce solids slowly into their diet. If they aren’t ready to try out solids, you don’t need to force them or worry about it. Give your baby enough time to adjust to the change and experiment with new and interesting foods.

Social and emotional skills at this age?

At this age, you might realize that your baby starts to become more and more aware of their environment. This means that they want to explore more and crawl to explore. While they explore, they might also start feeling a bit anxious while you’re not around. It is common for babies this age to have separation anxiety. Understand that this is only temporary and will get better.

Best toys for this age?

Some toys recommended for babies this age are:

  • Teething ring
  • Puzzles
  • Mazes
  • Colorful books

Make sure that all of the toys that you buy during this time are safe and soft.

How much will your baby sleep?

Your baby will already have developed a routine or schedule that they stick to every night by now. They will sleep for about 14 hours in total. This means that during the night they might be asleep for about 11-12 hours during the night. They will also take a 2-3 hour long nap during the day time.
