Babies will have a lot of energy during this time so engage them with toys that involve them. Some babies will also try to stand more frequently by holding onto walls or furniture. So, you might take the help of a baby standing station to aid them.

How much has your baby grown in the ninth month?

Now that you have crossed nine months after the delivery of your baby, your baby has grown a lot to adjust to the world outside. Your baby probably weighs between 8 to 10 kilograms. It is important to keep a record of how much your baby has grown over the past months to measure a growth curve.

Your baby’s gross motor skills

From crawling around and reaching to all the corners of the room, your child has now preferred their ability to hold onto the furniture and pull themselves up to a standing position. They might like to stay still and stand or some babies might start to take a step or two before their legs get tired and they sit down.

Now you can give your toddler some toys and they will sit down without your help to play with it. They have the back strength to hold their body in the sitting position for a long time.

Make sure you have baby-proofed all of the rooms and the sockets because at this age they will love to pick things with their fingers. They might try to put their fingers inside one of the sockets or pull on electric cords.

How will your baby communicate?

Your little one is constantly babbling around random sounds. Some of these words might make sense and some of these might now. But chances are that they don’t know the meaning of any of the words that they are saying right now.

What should you feed your baby?

Your baby probably is munching on several soft solid fruits and vegetables by now. Some babies will continue to drink breast milk on a regular basis while some might reduce it slowly. You can experiment with what they prefer and mix their diet according to their preference. Don’t forget to serve them water as well since it is crucial to ensure that they aren’t dehydrated.

Social and emotional skills at this age?

Your toddler at this age will be very active and vigilant about their environment. They will listen to your conversations and will understand a lot of what is going on around them. They will recognize many people that they are familiar with and even play with them sometimes.

Best toys for this age?

Some toys recommended for babies this age are:

  • Teething ring
  • Puzzles
  • Hide things and make your toddler find it
  • Read them colorful books

How much will your baby sleep?

Your baby will sleep through the night on most nights. They might get you up in the middle of the night. Try to cuddle or comfort them to sleep if they wake up. Most of the babies will however sleep for up to 12 hours straight without waking up during the night. Expect about 2 hours of nap time during the day. This will total about 14 hours of sleep every day.
