Eleven-month-olds are very fun to hang around with. Some can call out ma-ma and da-da, even if they don’t know what it might mean. They are also starting to like eating on their own. If you give them their own cups they will be able to drink on their own. make sure not to add too much liquid to avoid spills.

They try to stand on their own and even try walking a few steps. This might result in small touches very often. But they soon forget it and get stronger each time. Make sure to baby-proof everything and keep them in a safe environment so that they can fall down without getting hurt.

How much has your baby grown in the eleventh month?

Babies don’t add as much weight as they did in the initial months once they reach their first birthday. They will add about 300 grams every month as compared to when they gained 200 grams every week in the initial months after delivery.

As they are moving around a lot and engaging in more physical activity, they use their energy and do not add as much weight as they did before.

Your baby’s gross motor skills
Some babies will have already taken their first steps while some babies will need a couple of more months to get used to being on their feet. The ability to walk can make your child feel more independent and free which can unpack a bunch of confidence.

When you play or sing their favorite tunes, they will start to engage with you, smile, and maybe clap their hands together.

You might be able to take them to the park and introduce them to the slide by this age. Whether they will like it or not is a personal preference but it would be a fun experience for your toddler if they liked it.

How will your baby communicate?

They love to use their ability to use body language to communicate with you. They might be constantly screaming out and babbling sounds like ‘dada’ and ‘mama’ but they just sound to your child at this age.

They will be listening to your conversation with other people. As long as you keep the words simple, they might be able to copy some words. However, their speech and language skills haven’t developed yet. So, expect them to listen to you and try to copy what you have said.

What should you feed your baby?

Introduce newer foods to their diet slowly and watch how they react to them. They might prefer a certain type of taste over the other. Try to give them healthy options to choose from.

Give them snacks every few hours and feed them about 900 ml of milk everyday. Make sure to give them one cup of water along with the solids. As soon as they start eating solids, they need to drink water as well to make sure they digest the food properly. Water will also stop them from being dehydrated.

Social and emotional skills at this age?

At this age, they can understand some basic rules of ‘what to do’ and ‘what not to do’. Try to explain to them the difference between right and wrong.

Best toys for this age?

Some toys recommended for babies this age are:

  • Teething ring
  • Puzzles
  • Play and sing rhymes in front of them
  • Hide things and make your toddler find it
  • Read them colorful books

How much will your baby sleep?

Babies at 11 months will require 12 hours of goodnight’s sleep. In order to ensure their rest, make sure that their room is dark and quiet. If there is a distraction in their bed, it might make it difficult for them to keep asleep.
